My husband loves macaroni and cheese. So I thought of making a macaroni and cheese recipe with turkey with a pinch of honey. When I made it, he instantly loved the taste of this dish. Enjoy and let me know what you think.
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 25 minutes
Servings: 4
Skill level: Easy
Ingredients:
9 OZ macaroni pasta
3/4 LBS turkey
1 cup cheese
3 TBSP butter
1 ½ TSP salt (divided)
1/2 TSP pepper
Optional:
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
TBSP honey
Instructions:
In a pan cook the turkey starting at medium-high. When the heat rises, turn down to medium-low and break it down with a wooden utensil, sprinkle some salt and pepper in it. Cook and continue to break down until there are no chunks and the pink is gone.
In a big pot fill it with 3 liters of water and 1/2 TSP of salt and turn the stove on high, when it boils throw in the macaroni pasta and turn to medium-low. Let it cook till the noodles are al dente (see package directions).
When noodles are ready, drain the noodles and add 3 TBSP butter, 1 TSP salt, 1/2 TSP pepper and 1 cup of cheese and mix.
Continue to cook the noodles on low to speed up the melting of the butter and cheese and continue to mix. Then add the cooked turkey and mix that very well.
Optional: In a blender add 1 TBSP of honey and ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar. Cook on low until honey is melted, then add 1/2 cup milk. Then add to the noodles and mix well.
Alternative: In a small pot add 1 TBSP of honey and ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar. Cook on low until honey melts, then add 1/2 cup milk and stir well then add to the noodles and mix well.
Let it stand for 5 minutes, then serve.
